San Luis Obispo:
San Luis Obispo County has earned worldwide recognition
and respect for the exceptional quality of wine grapes produced
in this ideal viticultural area. The area includes the Edna
Valley and Arroyo Grande Valley, each a designated "American
Viticultural Area", plus the Avila Valley and Nipomo.
There are nearly 13,000 acres of grape vines in San
Luis Obispo County, with more vineyards being planted
each year, supporting over 110 wineries. The climate
and soils provide the perfect environment for growing
and producing ultra-premium quality wines. The number
one wine grape variety in this areas is Cabernet Sauvignon,
with 8,600 acres dedicated to its production. Merlot
is second with 4,000 acres.
Arroyo Grande:
Few wineries make their home in the Arroyo Grande Valley,
but this area offers a rich diversity of microclimates
and a unique viticultural history. Composed of a 16-mile-long
winding valley in San Luis Obispo County, Arroyo Grande
benefits from a east-northeast orientation, allowing
coastal fog and Pacific breezes to moderate the climate.
Distinctive, nervy sparkling wines are produced
here, along with Chardonnay and
Pinot Noir, plus some of California's best Zinfandel
and
Rhone varietals.
Santa Margarita:
Santa Margarita, not long ago considered primarily a white
wine producing area, has gained much recognition for its
excellent red wines. Along with some amazing 'world class'
Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blancs, Rieslings, Viogniers and
Muscats, Santa Margarita wineries are producing award-winning
Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, Zinfandels and Syrahs, plus
Italian varietals, sparkling and fortified wines.
Paso Robles:
Today, Paso Robles is home to more than 100 wineries
and 26,000 vineyard acres, which focus on premium
wine production. The area's distinct micro-climates
and diverse soils, combined with warm days and cool
nights, make growing conditions ideal for producing
more than 40 wine varieties from Cabernet Sauvignon
and Merlot, to Syrah, Viognier and Roussanne, to Zinfandel,
the area's heritage wine variety.
Templeton:
Templeton is a small town included within the Paso Robles
appellation. The York Mountain Viticultural Area, 9 miles
due west of Templeton, is home to several wineries. Most
of the 400 acres within Templeton are planted today to
red varieties. Zinfandel and Petite Syrah dominate the
old plantings, but Cabernet, Merlot, and Chardonnay are
definitely on the increase.
Creston:
Come out to the beautiful countryside of Creston and enjoy
a world class Cabernet Sauvignon, along with other small
lot productions that exhibit intense varietal character,
and demonstrate Creston's commitment
to "no compromise" quality.
